I’M HERE – A LOVE STORY IN AN ABSOLUTE WORLD

picture-31

Director Spike Jonze’s new 30 minute short film titled I’m Here (financed by ABSOLUT VODKA) recently premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.  The director of Where the Wild Things Are has created a robot love story celebrating a life enriched by creativity. The movie is set in contemporary L.A., where life moves at a seemingly regular pace with the exception of a certain amount of robot residents who live among the population. A male robot librarian lives a solitary and methodical life – devoid of creativity, joy and passion – until he meets an adventurous and free spirited female robot. I’m Here will also screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February followed by a global release in March at imheremovie.com. Nieves Books has also just released a 48 page book in collaboration with Spike Jonze on the film.

And how does Jonze feel about Where the Wild Things Are – his risky, big-budget adaptation of the children’s classic – now that some time has passed? He’s thrilled. ‘I feel like we got to make the movie that was in my head,’ says Jonze. ‘It was hard along the way but in the end, I feel like we got away with murder. We got to make this personal film on this [huge] scale.’
