MoMa is now up and running on Saturdays throughout the Tasmanian Australian summer months. It stands for MONA Market (not to be confused with the other MoMA in New York!). MoMa is a produce-based market so you can expect super fresh produce from local community growers. There’s also food workshops, live music and lots of laying around on the lawn. It officially opened yesterday and continues every Saturday until 14 April 2012.

It’s finally here! Chris Lilley’s highly anticipated television series Angry Boys made its world premiere television debut last Wednesday night on ABC TV Australia (with HBO and BBC to follow shortly). With Angry Boys, Lilley and his long-time producer, Laura Waters, resolved to take more chances. “There has to be some challenge with each series,” Waters says. “We need to feel like it’s impossible, or it’s not fun. We talked about taking everything to the next level.”

Writer/performer Chris Lilley is the chameleon of character invention and in Angry Boys he brings to life six vastly different characters – identical twins Daniel and Nathan Sims, who appeared in We Can Be Heroes, are back. Joining the boys in the series are four new characters; former surfing world champion Blake Oakfield, a family man and founding member of a surfie gang – the Mucca Mad Boys; S.mouse a U.S. rapper famous for having produced the biggest selling hip-hop single of all time; Japanese mother Jen Okazaki, a shrewd businesswoman, she also manages her son’s skateboarding career; and Juvenile Justice Centre for Boys officer Ruth Sims, aka Gran. Prepare to be entertained!

Perimeter Books is a recently opened and really lovely looking new independent bookstore in Melbourne. At this new bookstore you’ll find many independent titles, artists’ books and limited editions including editions of mono.kultur!

If you find yourself in Melbourne, Curtin House is on my list of places to definitely visit. Everything about this inconspicuous six-storey building exudes cool. Curtin House is home to the Cookie bar and restaurant on level one, live music venue The Toff in Town on level two, and on level three you will find one of my favourite bookstores, the Metropolis book store (which stocks mono.kultur) alongside one of my favourite fashion boutiques, Someday (which stocks the likes of Bernhard Willhelm, Cosmic Wonder, Original Fake, BBC, Bless and a comprehensive selection of PAM). On level six you’ll find the offices of web developer Tundra and publisher Barrie Barton’s Right Angle Studio and on the very top his rooftop cinema. And this is all just a sample of what you will come across in Curtin House.
