This weekend sees the second installment of the magazine festival Facing Pages (previously called O.K. Festival) descend upon the lovely city of Arnhem in the Netherlands – three days full of talks, events, launches, exhibitions and parties, including too many interesting speakers to list here – let’s just say they really did their homework. To make for a charming start, our editor Anna Saulwick will kick off a series of magazine presentations, on that pretty interview magazine of your choice.

This nice exhibition around words – aptly subtitled What We Make With Words – has been going on at Glasgow’s venerable Centre for Contemporary Art for almost two weeks now, but what’s really exciting to us is the adjoining art book fair taking place this Saturday, including yours truly, live and in the flesh. Because we are so ready to get out of here, from the rain and the cold, because Glasgow, as we know, is nothing like that, not at all. Sunshine, here we come.

Ah yes, it’s that time of the year again: Idealistic young men and women flock to the grey pastures of Berlin to unleash their pretty books and magazines on art and the like on idealistic young men and women who can think of nothing better to do on a weekend than browse pretty books on art and the like. The former referring to our humble selves and our fearless peers, the latter to, right, you. All this on the lovely premises of Kunstwerke Berlin, who for the third time invited a mouthwatering range of international publishers and artists to their art book fair Miss Read. So come by and say hello to one of our tireless editors in person.

With the world’s largest book fair in Frankfurt opening tomorrow, it’s about time someone made some space for independent publishing, so we were more than pleased when we were invited to take part in First Issue, an alternative fair focusing on small art publishers, including the likes of our friends at Rollo Press, Spector Books and Dent-de-Leone. It’s a mouth-watering line-up, and even better, a two-day program filled with talks and lectures, including our humble selves on Saturday. So if you happen to be in the vicinity, make sure to come by and say hello.

MONO.PUNKT #11: NEW YORK ART BOOK FAIR 2011

We love New York, and we love book fairs, so it’s pretty evident that we would be ravished by the New York Art Book Fair. Arguably the most important fair of its kind, it’s always a pleasure, especially since its move to the nifty PS1. Since we have other plans for tonight, our friends at Motto will kindly co-host our space, which doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the rare occasions to have all available issues of mono.kultur in New York in one place. Anyway, if you’re even remotely interested in art books and magazines, you know what to do.

This Thursday – tomorrow – doors open once more to the totally biggest art book fair in the world, obviously in New York, and what’s more, at the totally awesome PS1. A, like, total must for anyone in the area with only the slightest interest in printed matter. Or art. Or design. Or words. Or well-designed artists’ printed matter, with or without words. Oh, and before we forget, totally make sure to drop by at our shared booth with Motto: most likely our, like, totally awesome new issue’s first outing across the big pond.
