THE PUNK SINGER

Rebel girl Kathleen Hanna is back! The lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill and dance-punk trio Le Tigre, rose to national attention as the reluctant but never shy voice of the riot grrrl movement. She became one of the most famously outspoken feminist icons, a cultural lightning rod. Her critics wished she would just shut-up, [...]

Mack & Cheese

Since Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) turned 20 this weekend, let’s start this week with some rap news: That guy who played Michael Lee in The Wire has apparently been calling himself Mack Wilds for a while, and though his R&B-type stuff is in parts cringeworthy, at least he also features what any Mac(k) should [...]

Everyone in Glasgow will have the chance to meet the likeable band today at Monorail [...]

SUMMER OF UNREST

These images speak for themselves. Vice Magazine was on site the day it all kicked off.

SOLIDARITY

Protests in Turkey are going on while the type of gas used by the police is constantly changing. First it was burning eyes, make one puke; then the one that hurts the skin… The last but not least is affecting the ability to think properly. Bring it on Mr. President!
The violence of the police increase. [...]

SLOW SUMMITS

Today’s a nice day for everyone waiting for the release of Slow Summits, the latest record by Glasgow residents The Pastels. Even though it was a long time in the coming (first full-length album in 16 years!), it was worth waiting, especially for tracks like ‘Summer Rain’ and ‘Check My Heart’. A triumphant return!
