In the exhibition Solo for … Dan and Lia Perjovschi the ifa gallery Berlin presents two artistic positions that combine image and text in very different ways, respectively commenting upon current affairs from their own approaches.

Dan Perjovschi responds with his spontaneous, stylised, almost comic-like drawings to current socio-political conditions. Daily, Weekly, Monthly is a retrospective of Dan Perjovschi’s magazine works. His political, social and cultural news are always highly topical, depicting human society of the 20th and 21st century in a humorous and critical way.
Dan Perjovschi (born 1961) participated in the exhibition Erste Schritte – Rumänische Kunst der 90er Jahre (First Steps – Romanian art of the 90s), presented by the ifa galleries Berlin, Stuttgart, and Bonn in 1993.

Lia Perjovschi’s large-scale installation Knowledge Museum Kit is an imaginary project of ideas for an interdisciplinary museum, a base project for those who want to know what should be known. Creating imaginary contexts, the artist raises existential questions and reveals unexpected connections. The interplay of image and text evokes an endless mind map, where text fragments and image material are interwoven in associative structures.
Lia Perjovschi (born 1961) participated in the project Balt-Orient-Express presented by the ifa gallery Berlin in 1996 and subsequently shown at the Romanian National Gallery in Bucharest and the Kunsthalle Exnergasse in Vienna.

Today the Bucharest-based artist couple participates together or individually in renown international exhibitions like the Venice Biennial or at the MoMA New York.

Everyone has a Tumblr these days, but it’s rare that they’re even remotely interesting – often they’re just mood boards full of more things to buy. The Museum of Modern Art’s Library Tumblr is a different animal all together. Run by David Senior, MoMA’s bibliographer (best job ever?) and the man responsible for the wonderful Access to Tools show, it chronicles the day to day fun of receiving, opening, and cataloging arts publications from around the world. Mathieu Wellner, our friend and interviewer of mono.kultur #22, will give an introduction to  Ai Weiwei’s work as an architect in Graz tonight. Don’t miss it!

Although Ai Weiwei had already successfully realized more than 60 different building projects, three years ago, he and his team Fake Design decided to take on no further commissions. They had come to find the process of official authorization and the waste of creative energy invested in unrealized projects to be too frustrating and disappointing. They have sometimes made an exception, but then they decided to accompany the undertaking in a different way – to curate it.
And indeed: As a showcase for democracy and diversity, architecture can also encourage debate. Especially in China.

Conflict Kitchen is a take-out restaurant that only serves cuisine from countries that the United States is in conflict with. The food is served out of a take-out style storefront, which rotates identities every 6 months to highlight another country. Each Conflict Kitchen iteration is augmented by events, performances, and discussion about the culture, politics, and issues at stake with each county we focus on. We are currently presenting the third iteration of Conflict Kitchen via La Cocina Arepas, an Venezuelan take-out restaurant that serves homemade arepas, grilled corncakes served to order with a variety of fresh fillings. Developed in collaboration with members of the Venezuelan community, our arepas come packaged in a custom-designed wrapper that includes interviews with Venezuelans both in Venezuelan and the United States on subjects ranging from Venezuelan food and culture to issues of geopolitics.
