<p>Many of our international subscribers will find the new mono.issue in their mailbox these days. Without telling too much about the inside of the envelope, a remark on its outside: We were quite happy to notice wisdom doesn&#8217;t stop in fortune cookies, the  €1-stamps quote <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low_German" target="_blank">low-German</a> poet <a href="http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/r#a5592" target="_blank">Fritz Reuter</a>:</p>
<p><em>&#8216;</em><em>Wenn einer dauhn deit, wat hei </em><em>deiht, denn kann hei nich mihr </em><em>dauhn, as hei </em><em>deiht.&#8217;</em></p>
<p>It&#8217;s not easy to translate to any sane tongue, but the stamp suggests something like: <em>If one really does what he is doing, then he can do no more than he does.</em> We&#8217;re not sure, but Fritz Reuter may have been the very first slacker.</p>
<p>And yes, <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fphilatelie.deutschepost.de%2Fphilatelie%2Fshop%2Ftemplates%2Fproduktseiten%2Fproduktdetail_standard.jhtml%3Fid%3Dprod12100042%26navCount%3D0%26navAction%3Djump&amp;sl=de&amp;tl=en&amp;hl=&amp;ie=UTF-8" target="_blank">it&#8217;s true</a>. Even high-ranking officials <a href="http://www.bundesfinanzministerium.de/SharedDocs/Bilder/5__PWZ/Praes__Reuter,property=default.jpg" target="_blank">feel it&#8217;s a big deal</a>.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll try to keep the poetic postage up, and keep you – uh – posted?</p>
