Congratulations: tomorrow sees the launch, after two years of preparation, of Verdeq, a new label for bags made from high-tech convertible fabric. Smart idea, smart apparel: Verdeq was co-founded by our very own long-time editor Florian Rehn, with the identity and art direction, needless to say, designed by mono.studio.

Dutch design company senz° have reinvented the umbrella as we know it: redesigning its basic shape along the the laws of  aerodynamics and refining countless little details, senz° umbrellas are storm-proof and strikingly handsome.

For its new and fashionable offspin senz⁶, mono.studio revised the brand’s approach to their image campaign and lookbook. We developed a contemporary language for the product images by merging urban landscapes and fashion imagery into dizzying photocollages.

We have mentioned before that behind the printed page, we have been doing more and more commissioned design and editorial work for various projects, which in the meantime, we have finally compiled into a glorious website in its very own right. Ladies and gents, please welcome mono.studio.

With spring in the air, high time to introduce our second campaign that we produced with mono.studio for New York fashion label tsesay. Continuing our modular graphic system of fashion images juxtaposed on land/cityscapes, this time we focused on summery sun-drenched settings as the tsesay Spring/Summer 2014 collection is largely inspired by surf and skate culture, incorporating elements of beach wear and tie dye techniques. To capture a sense of lightness and joy, all fashion images were shot in full motion, while the background images unashamedly revel in that summer feeling. mono.studio in pop modus, and happy Easter everyone.

With tsesay positioning itself between high-end design and street culture, we proposed to emphasize the heritage of New York in the graphic language of the campaign by introducing a background layer that features cityscapes of NYC (which, as a nice democratic touch, were actually resourced from mostly non-professional photographers) to be juxtaposed with the fashion images. This can and will be played out in various ways over the next seasons, of course, but we’re so pleased with the results of the first campaign for the current Autumn/Winter collection, which draws upon themes of warmth and comfort during the cold months, illustrated by a delicious inside / outside visual overlay.
