Last night saw the first installment of a live experiment between two of the most advanced electronic music labels in Berlin: Raster-Noton and Minus shared the stage at the excellent new WMF club, with their respective founders Alva Noto and Byetone versus Richie Hawtin (plus JPLS), playing a sort of electronic musical chairs – each of them taking turns on stage solo and together, fusing regular live sets with improvised sound battles, blending the abstract funk of Raster-Noton with the more club-oriented 4/4 approach of Minus. Culminating in a no holes barred foursome, they just wouldn’t let us go home early, and we have the ring in our ears to prove it. To be repeated tomorrow night in Rome, and with more events to come.
