ALTERNATIVES IN PRINT: SHUKYU

Back in 2012, we hosted a public viewing when Germany gloriously defeated Greece during the European Football Cup, aided among others by our friend Kohei Ito, who supplied some visuals relating soccer to graphic design. At the time, he already had plans to launch a magazine dedicated to football aesthetics, and three years later, we [...]

THE THISTLE

Priceless: one of our favourite artists, David Shrigley (and no, we really don’t have any issues left), was commissioned to design the new mascot for Scottish football team Patrick Thistle. They got a yellow, erm, thistle, even though it reminded us instantly of something else. What were they thinking?

mono.ride

Oh yes, the new data-enhanced Rapha Pro collection looks like a crooked mono.kultur logo in motion. And in case you don’t care about riding, you can also sit, of course. Or take the train, tonight.

One Night In Berlin

Just in case you’re feeling that Berlin winter blues already: go out at night, and go underground.

HAPPY END

This was a long night full of rain and chatter, queueing up in front of the bar of your choice (or setting an edge on
your couch at home if you didn´t want to get soaked), jumpiness, cheer and watery eyes. The game has ended,
the dice is cast now. Thanks to the probably most charismatic team [...]

FOOTBALL CULTURE 03

When Brazil was talking about vengeance for the Maracanaço, when Brazil lost the world cup final against Uruguay in 1950 in Rio de Janeiro, little did they (or anyone else, for that matter) know that the curse would only be replaced by the ‘massacre of Belo Horizonte’. Oh dear. We’re really sorry guys… We do [...]

TUESDAY MUSIC: LAKE CITY

In case you didn’t know, we’re all muscle-packed, steroid-obsessed studs at the studio, so this video by Sebastian Vargas for Lake City’s first single, well, it just tickles our abs.

FOOTBALL CULTURE 02

Meanwhile, on yet another side of the planet, or Japan, to be precise, our football-crazed friends at Juuichi – who put together some beautiful exhibits for a mono.kultur-hosted evening during the Euro Cup 2012 – are hosting not one but two exhibitions dedicated to football graphics and paraphernalia. In Tokyo, alas, but then you can [...]

FOOTBALL CULTURE 01

The world cup in Brazil is in full swing (and we’d be lying if we said that we weren’t interested, with the games running in the background more often than not), with Germany in the spotlight once again tonight. In the meantime, our dear friend and photographer Christian Frey has teamed up with journalist Kai [...]

BOBBELE

You have to hand it to them: Fantastic Man’s editorial choices are always a treat. Boom Boom Boris on the cover? No German title with any self-respect would have dared to… Yes indeed.
