Having taking precautions already since his First Work Series (1963-69) to influence and direct the physical and interpretative fate of his pragmatic minimalist structures, Franz Erhard Walther’s production follows an idea of storage rather then of the ‘studio’. The concept of his sculptures as both performative and participatory objects transforms the exhibition space into an arena of collaboration rather then contemplation. Reprising central themes and methodological approaches from 5 decades this show aims to show the interrelations of the mediations of pictorial, textual and physical space in his works and aesthetic program.
