ALTERNATIVES IN PRINT: CORRESPONDENCIA

From Argentina with love comes a beautiful little publication that is intimate, personal and utterly charming: Correspondencia. I’ve often been wondering why we don’t see more publications from that corner of the globe, and if Correspondencia is anything to go by, then it’s at our loss: in the vein of Les Cahiers Purple (and whatever happened to that?), it’s a beautiful and poetic collection of random thoughts, essays and images on contemporary life. With a rough binding and a minimalist layout, it feels almost like a work in progress, a published diary or scrapbook for your personal thoughts and notes. Maybe a little one-sided at times – while still beautiful, how many more portfolios by Mark Borthwick or Wolfgang Tillmanns does the world need? – it’s more the collection of essays, quotes and thoughts that I found inspiring – the downside being that all articles are published in their original language, either Spanish or English. Nonetheless, a great little correspondence from a neglected corner of the world.
