IT’S NICE THAT

Anyone who is already familiar with the rather brilliant design culture blog It’s Nice That will have second-guessed by now that it’s a solid fixture on our daily morning Internet itineraries, but the real highlight comes on Fridays, as it should, when it’s time for The Weekender.

That’s when pants come down and it’s time to get down to the things that are of real human interest, the things that reveal the glory of the Internet in all its greatness. Because where else could you be informed in the most charming manner about a Twitter ode to the Boiler Man; lovingly recreated sets of Back to the Future II – in Lego that is; weirdly touching family portraits of 70s rock stars; and a disturbingly addictive list of unusual deaths (try this for starters: ‘1916: Grigori Rasputin, Russian mystic, was reportedly poisoned, shot in the head, shot three more times, bludgeoned, and then thrown into a frozen river after being castrated. When his body washed ashore, an autopsy showed the cause of death to be hypothermia; however, some now doubt the credibility of this account.’) Exactly – and that is just for this week. Because come Friday, come The Weekender. Many thanks for that.
