HILMA AF KLINT

The anticipated retrospective exhibition of Hilma af Klint has now opened at the Modern Museum in Stockholm. Like Kandinsky or Mondrian, af Klint (1862-1944) was influenced by spiritual movements and has been considered to be ahead of her time in the way she incorporated her beliefs in her abstract work. In her will she wrote that her abstract work should not be shown until at least twenty years after her passing, only by then did she believe people would understand them. Almost seventy years later there is still an extensive amount of her work that has never before been shown, and now finally her timeless works can be seen. The exhibition in Stockholm ends May 26 but will then travel to Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin to be set up between June 15 – October 6. The following fall and winter the exhibition will move to Malaga and Musée Picasso.
