MONO.PUNKT 18 & 19: COPENHAGEN & HONG KONG

Tonight at 17h is the kick-off for not just one but two fairs of a kind at the opposite ends of the world, united by a thin thread of both featuring our humble adventure in print among their wares.

‘Art Books, Milk & Mayonnaise’ might sound like a typically Danish eccentricity, but for good reason, since our friends at Lodret Vandret have organized Copenhagen’s first art book fair called One Thousand Books, featuring 25 fair-haired publishers with a pale complexions, among them yours truly, at least in spirit. What’s intriguing is the mayonnaise part, of course, and you can take this quite literally, since One Thousand Books takes place at a local Rema supermarket, and yes, you heard that right. So do some art book browsing while also taking care of your weekend grocery shopping, which proves once again that those Scandinavians are a practical lot with a solid sense of humour.

Meanwhile, in slightly more tropical climates and an eternal six hours ahead on the grander scheme of time, Art Basel has descended for the first time ever onto Hong Kong and set the entire city off into a dizzying art frenzy of unprecedented dimensions, and who would have thought that anything else but Prada could get this city excited? It also is a rare chance to find open heavy metal doors in the industrial district of Chai Wan, where many studios and independent art spaces are opening their arms for today and tomorrow, including our friends at fashion label Tangram, who have converted their beautiful work space into a temporary pop-up shop for works by friends and family, and talented friends and families they have.
