MONDAY MUSIC: MICACHU

Speaking of producing videos not just for a track but an entire album, spare a moment for lovely and wondrous Micachu who worked together with director Chloe Hayward to produce a visual sort of dream diary for her latest album Never – and weirdly wonderful they all are, in their own way. Unashamedly low-budget, cheaply [...]

MONDAY MUSIC: HOT CHIP

After a brief summer holiday, Monday Music returns with the kind of sugar-coated ballad that only Hot Chip can get away with, and yes, they can afford big budget videos now, which is kind of a shame, but nice track anyway.

MONDAY MUSIC: PASSION PIT

Take a Walk, taken quite literally by director-to-watch David Wilson for Passion Pit’s latest single, and if my walks were as energetic as a bouncing ball’s, hey, the world would look so much prettier.

MONDAY MUSIC: BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB

I could say a few things now which I would find hilarious but they would be highly politically incorrect which doesn’t always go down so well, so I’m going to restrain myself and just keep it at a general ‘nice moves!’ Beg by Bombay Bicycle Club, from their new album A Different Kind of Fix.

MONDAY MUSIC: OLAFUR ARNALDS

We mentioned Berlin-based label Erased Tapes before, but since they are celebrating their fifth anniversary this autumn, time to mention them again since they really, really care about what they do. Video by Lam Ho Tak, for Near Light by Olafur Arnalds.

MONDAY MUSIC: SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO

Whoever is in charge of commissioning videos for Simian Mobile Disco, they sure know what they’re doing – the first release of their new album Unpattern sporting already my favourite video of the year, Your Love Ain’t Fair is a close contender for second spot. Awesome.

MONDAY MUSIC: BEACH HOUSE

Now that summer has come back to town, let’s head over to Beach House and their new video Lazuli.

MONDAY MUSIC: RADIOHEAD

It’s not every Monday you get to listen to an entire album here (alas, without the video), and it’s not every Monday that it might even be one of your favourite albums of all time, only in a slightly more upbeat version, so hail to Quinton Sung! They used to say that the best songs [...]

MONDAY MUSIC: LIARS

The first single No 1 Against the Rush taken from the Liars’ forthcoming and rather grand new album, WIXIW. Video shot by one of my favourite photographers, Todd Cole (who happened to take the portrait of one Miranda July, featured in our issue #16). Listen to more here.

MONDAY MUSIC: THE INVISIBLE

Rather genius:  The Invisible’s forthcoming new album Rispah.
