Ein Magazin über Orte – meaning, quite literally, A Magazine about Places – is a little gem of a journal, and one of the best magazines to come out of Berlin these days. The concept is already given away in the title: for every issue, a certain place is selected, such as ’scene of crime’, ‘workplace’, etc. as theme for a mixture of text, photography and illustration, some literal, some more abstract. Their strength is without doubt the photography and the unusually consistent and beautiful design, which doesn’t come as a surprise, really, with the gentle crew behind the title being photographers and designers – since, like the best things in life, Ein Magazin über Orte comes straight from the heart.
Ein Magazin über Orte will present their forthcoming issue 6 about ‘home’ at the ever busy Motto Bookshop in Berlin this Thursday.
