NOT READY FOR THE PLUNGE?

One of the best things about working in the arts in New York right now is the preponderance of small-scale, independent projects, schools, and initiatives. Places like The Bruce High Quality Foundation University and the Public School, NYC are great outlets for people seeking engaging dialogue about the arts but who are not ready to face the Medusa-Face of graduate school. I recently came across a terrific sounding (and more serious) program run by Independent Curators International called The Curatorial Intensive. Over a week this fall, participants interested in curating in the public sphere will engage in a vigorous set of workshops, classes, and one-on-one sessions with an impressive line-up of teachers, including Anne Pasternak, Mary Jane Jacob , and Dan Cameron. While the course costs $1500 (they call this “low-cost”), ICI does offer 4 scholarships. The deadline to apply is August 13th, but if you did things early, you’d already have your PhD, right?
