SEEDS OF DISCONTENT

In Berlin, the giant exhibition space Kraftwerk Berlin-Mitte has drawn comparisons with the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, with some visitors even christening it the ‘Tate Berlin’ (unsurprising, since both spaces are former power stations).

In the real Turbine Hall, mono.kultur alumnus Ai Weiwei has caused controversy with his exhibition Sunflower Seeds, which closed three days after it opened, apparently due to the amount of dust created when visitors tread across the huge field of individually-crafted porcelain seeds. It can now only be viewed from the bridge above the space.
