BOATS AND SAXOPHONES

Good saxophone music is hard to find. Just like nice boats. If you’re near Barcelona try this:

DUETS NIGHT

What could be finer than a relaxing evening calmly swaying to live music and the sea onboard a classic wooden boat? The first DUETS NIGHT is coming with fine musicians including Tom Chant on Saxophone, playing with a hurdy gurdy player. More acts will be confirmed during the week so hold tight… Bands and musicians playing music live in a duo of any style at all… so long as they’re two. Drinks and tapas will be available on board. Entrance is 4 euros which gets you a drink. All proceeds go to the musicians. So come down to BADALONA MARINA to Mooring L2 next to the bars… nearest station is BADALONA STATION (Renfe). Then head for the SEA and turn RIGHT! We will be starting around five on SUNDAY March 20th 2011.

If you’re not sure about saxophones, far from Barcelona and not really into boats try this for a start:

Respiro is a 2002 Italian film written and directed by Emanuele Crialese. John Surman wrote the original score featuring sequenced synthesizer and alto saxophone. By the way, John Surman’s label is ECM. The mega addictive and fantastic title track Nestor’s Saga was published on the album The Amazing Adventures Of Simon Simon. Unfortunately I can’t link this to the sub-page on ECM but just type it in the SEARCH field on the main page.
