The controversy-laden Leistungsschau Based in Berlin opened its doors on Tuesday (co-curated, we might add with just a little bit of pride, by our very own Magda Magiera) – and while it was too busy to see much of the work, there is one central piece in the main hall of Kunstwerke that really stuck with me in all its beauty. And isn’t this is what it should be all about, the work rather than politics? Either way, I was very happy to discover Jeremy Shaw’s Best of Minds Part One, a two-screen video installation showing the ritual of ecstatic punk or techno dancing slowed down to almost standstill and scored with an ambient loop.
