POUR LA DERNIÈRE ET POUR LA PREMIÈRE FOIS

Yesterday an exhibition of French conceptual artist Sophie Calle opened up at Galerie Perrotin in Paris.

The film series entitled Voir la Mer tells stories of people in Istanbul who gets to see the sea for the first time of their lives. In the same city, Calle spoke to people who suddenly had lost their sight. She asked them to describe the last thing they remembered seeing. These photos became the series La Dernière Image. Calle has dealt with the concept of sight, the loss of it and memory before; like in Aveugles which is also featured in the exhibition. Calle continues to boldly investigate experiences of strangers and of her own private relationships; parallel and shared realities- or different perceptions of it.

The exhibition Pour la dernière et pour la première fois continues until the 27th of October at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris.
