Booty Call

This one’s hardly new anymore after more than a week, but since we’ll probably never do it anyway, I have to say: Eric Wareheim, whose visual language makes me wake up at night thinking of Leland Palmer and white horses, actually deserves the mono.kultur treatment.

#OCCUPYGEZI SUPPORT

#Occupygezi attracts more and more support from all over the world. Berlin residents can show solidarity tonight by joining the fundraising event Weeboogie 4 Istanbul, with musical support by Juke Ellington, Salute and Paul Pre. Resist with music and pizza!

LESSER KNOWN ARCHITECTURE

It’s rare that we will recommend the Brandenburg Gate or the Reichstag when people ask us what to see when coming to Berlin. Not that these are a waste of time, but there are other places and sights woven into the fabric of our lives in the city that we will feel much closer to. [...]

EPILOGUE: ONE THOUSAND BOOKS

Just in case you were wondering what a book art fair within a supermarket might look like: it looks like this. Or at least in Denmark it does.

NEW YORK TYPOGRAPHY

Probably every self-respecting designer started taking pictures of street typography at some point in their careers (or student days, rather), thinking what an amazing archive this was going to be one day, until the interest started waning and… well, that’s what the Internet and sites like NYC Type are here for, to do the collecting [...]

SOLIDARITY

Protests in Turkey are going on while the type of gas used by the police is constantly changing. First it was burning eyes, make one puke; then the one that hurts the skin… The last but not least is affecting the ability to think properly. Bring it on Mr. President!
The violence of the police increase. [...]

MONDAY MUSIC II: DAVID LYNCH FEAT. LYKKE LI

The new album The Big Dream by iconic David Lynch will be out 15th/16th of July. The recently released track I’m Waiting Here featuring Lykke Li lingers comfortably, evoking a black and white movie in my head.

LIVING ARCHIVE

In June 2013, LIVING ARCHIVE at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin will present the results of the Living Archive project, initiated in 2011 by Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art (Berlin). The project’s participants present their research and their responses to the Arsenal collection in the form of an exhibition. On [...]

MONDAY MUSIC: AOKI TAKAMASA

Sometimes it’s nice to take a little of the weekend into your Monday, like a little beat-fest with our friend Aoki Takamasa who, years ago, sonically supported a mono.klub night, and has recently published his latest offering RV8 on Raster-Noton. View a few more sweet videos to his Rhythm Variations here and here.

THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED

By following Tilda Swinton and Madonna, please keep spreading the word about a secular, civil revolution against Islamist fascist* prime ministers and neoliberal capitalists in the world…
For a short and effective summary of what has been done.
Protestors working altogether again to extinguish the fire that provocateurs lighted.
*The photo being shown here is depicting the poetic side [...]
