CLUBLAND REVISITED

Contemporary dance culture has deep roots in the LGBT communities. However, it seems that this background is still largely unrecognised today. Terre Thaemlitz aka DJ Sprinkles is therefore a major figure within the club scene. By making this very origin visible and talking about the issues around this discourse, she is also one of dance music’s most important theorists. Our read for today is an extensive interview with FACT Magazine’s Alex Macpherson. Furthermore there is going to be a reissue of DJ Sprinkles’ legendary Midtown 120 Blues on 31 May - “A politically charged set of syrupy deep house tracks that pontificate about the true meaning of New York’s house legacy, it’s one of the most complete statements in electronic music of the last few years”!
