As beloved Twigs is making the hyperventilating rounds of the Internet in the run-up to the August release of her first album, let’s bask for a moment in the glories of last year, when EP2 perfected the icy, broken-up sound of EP1, promising a new future for that tired genre of R’n'B. Sadly, her new single Two Weeks takes a surprising step backward to overblown diva-esque hallelujahs, bling and all, but then there’s still hope that the rest of the album won’t disappoint as much as the first teaser does. In the meantime, nothing will diminish the first two offerings released without the amount of commercial pressure that makes itself felt now.
