CONVERSATIONS WITH GHOSTS

‘Late in 2010 the folks at Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) asked me if I was interested in collaborating with a modern classical composer on a song cycle. The idea sounded so scary I said yes straight away before I could talk myself out of it.’ (Paul Kelly)

Conversations With Ghosts, is a hauntingly beautiful [...]

BERLIN ATONAL 2013

I must begin by admitting total ignorance of a festival that last took place when I was two years old. That being said, the impressive six day programme for the first Berlin Atonal since 1990 is rapidly challenging the allure of the nearest lake/swimming pool/cool shower in this gorgeous summer heat.

RELEVANTE MUSIK

Relevante Musik
Festival of political media art, performance and music
About the festival (information from the website of Freunde Guter Musik e.V.):

AWAITED

Discovering two announcements in one night can be overwealming.
The National will release a new album in May followed by a North American and European summer tour. Tickets go on sale on this very day.
As for the second announcement, I’ll just leave you with a note picked up at Pitchfork.
NOTE FROM TRENT:
Nine Inch Nails are touring this [...]

Tomorrow: Beak> In Berlin

Almost forgot to mention this: Geoff Barrow’s insanely banging group Beak> is going to go wild at Berlin’s Bi Nuu club tomorrow night!

CONCERT

ICE Lab from NY is performing for three days in Krome Gallery. This performance will be showing every step of a preparation for a concert, eliminating the long period of selection of a work or  rehearsing. An installation by Bo Christian Larsson is said to create a stage that ‘blurs the boundaries between the audience [...]

CULTURAL ARCHAEOLOGY

It might be due to Munich’s Haus der Kunst’s continued practice of curatorial courage, or to ECM’s unique record of sonic and aesthetic single-mindedness, but I can’t think of many, or any, record labels to be honoured with a major retrospective in one of Germany’s best museums for contemporary art without it raising any eyebrows, [...]

Pilgrim Marketing Plan Rebuttal: Take Seven

The hard sounding peoples, ain’t nothing can’t get between us
Dances received from the splash signals so to swim in
Magical places we get and with the shiny women
Win our idle pink girl, our bodies by wraith division
The moonlight and donnin’ cloud glistenin’ glazed, that we giftin
Every sound, we trying to mash and attention
We bung the latest [...]
